Red diesel to stay?

Roy I warned you that hanging out with the crowd on B leg would lead to embarrassment. Time to return to the fold fella ?

For those of us who live in Northern Ireland, the fact that the relaxation does not apply to NI is just another example of how the the NI protocol is turning it into a third world country, whereby many uk suppliers now refuse to deliver anything to here.

That's very unfortunate, I know that people have had issues with DPD delivering computer bits to NI, and there is mass confusion on the processing of VAT of orders to both NI and Ireland.
Hopefully things will settle down to some sort of steady state in a few months.

Aguy i know has a fuel inlet on deck marcked diesel with a 2 metre tube down to the bilge blancked off and full of white diesel , he then changed the proper diesel caps for pump out ones simples.

I have seen many interesting ways to hide the fact a road going truck is running on red, including ideas the same as your friends.

Now we have left the EU I’m not sure what duty rates in the UK or the colour of our diesel have to do with travelling into the EU. I’m not bringing my EU registered / owned boat over to the UK for fuel then returning to the EU. I’m bringing a foreign vessel into the EU on a temporary basis. If I came over from the US do they investigate what duty was paid on my fuel? Indeed if the UK saw fit to impose draconian levels of duty on fuel would the EU give me a refund on the basis they charge less?

I’m genuinely not trying to be clever but asking an honest question.

As has been said already if the EU wants to see tourist revenue they will need to show common sense. I haven’t been over the channel for some years now favouring the West Country instead. There is plenty of good cruising ground here to explore.

UK Gov' could reinstate the full derogation now we have left as it was only modified to placate EU rules.
A good suggestion. Nothing is impossible . I suspect the propulsion duty collected from leisure craft may not really be worth the man hours spent collecting it.

I would have said reducing fuel duty would be a vote winner ??, how would you quantify “rich” ? , anyone with a motorboat or someone who has worked their arse off to be able to afford a hobby they love ??.

It's not a question of how he would quantify rich, like it or not it's a question of how the MSM would, and owning a 'yacht' would be more than enough a qualification for that category.

MSM is main stream media Colin, and to be fair, i was always under the assumption that owning a boat/yacht was diametrically opposed to being "rich" ;). But if i owned a marina ???? :D.

I can just see the headline "Taxes slashed on polluting fuel for wealthy boat owners but government can only afford 1% pay rise for NHS heroes." Not going to happen chaps.

I can cope with 60/40.
Trying to get anything better will most likely result in Extinction Rebellion turning up with PitchForks.
