Is it possible to (1) Purchase and (2) legally use industrial diesel (Red Diesel) in Turkey. What about the purchase of duty free diesel. The boat is UK reg. but we do not live in the UK. I will need about 1000 L.

"Duty free fuel is available to visiting foreign (private) yachts and it is required to place a minimum order of 5 tons and filling has to be certified by the presence of a Custom Officer. This minimum quantity has to be ordered for one vessel and it is not permissible for a number of yachts to take the minimum quantity collectively. After refueling, vessels must depart the country"

This is an extract from the "rules" as published by my marina. It's as good as written in stone . . . . . .not!!!! but, subject to any number of interpretations, and liable to change, alteration and additional charges at a moments notice or when the wind changes!
I think the reality is, it's possible but not likely!

The minimum of 5k liters is correct, but one agent I know will get a number of yachts together as long as each yacht will take a minimum of 400 liters. Check with Soner at Marmaris Marine marmarismarine"at"hotmail.com. I have used him for lots of things like putting me in touch with a very good vendors that speak Turkish only. He translates, takes a commission and my final cost has been less than those vendors who speak good English...and...quality has been better than some friends have received.
