Did you read the bit that HMRC said that they will accept the 60/40 split as the most likely for all boats?
Anyway, I dont use ANY diesel in the marina, but when I go out, I might choose to spend my time on the hook, running the genny for power and the eber for heat.
Infact, I might choose to use the eber for heat in the marina too.
I agree its open to abuse, but it seems very clear (and it has to be said sensible) that they will consider 60/40 a fair split, but if you are a livaboard or a sailing yacht which spends little time steaming you can still claim a higher domestic use without too much hassle.
I'm sorry if your hope for eutopia of a Solent free from us nasty sinky motorboaters has been dashed for another few years at least.
