Recently bought a beneteau 35s5 and am debating whether to have the main and genoa recut. They are about 4-5 years old, but a bit limp around the edges. The main is UK Williams, Genoa by North. Based in Portsmouth, any experiences good, bad or otherwise. Worth doing or not.

Thanks. Nick

Hi

I would not bother. (Sows Ears etc.)I would suggest spend the money on a new Genoa if you can only afford one sail, otherwise a new suit from the same sailmaker so that they are cut to match each other. You will be surprised at the improvement in performance.

I asked the same questiona while ago. I had a genoa I had altered but didn't really make any improvement. The leech was stretched and I had some area taken out by taking a triangle from the luff.
Opinion was that a new sail was the way to go.
I tend to agree. I wouldn't have repairs done when the money could go towards a new sail.
