All I want is my nice Standard Horizon C300i to return to life. Nice and simple, no stupid touch screen to throw a hissy fit whenever there’s a drop of rain, neat and tidy.

I'd have more confidence if they said WHY they are refurbished. Are they repaired returns or what? Also, what guarantee do they offer? Doesn't seem to be stated on the web pages.

I've no idea ether. I just thought that they looked good value, and see no reason why factory-refurbished stuff shouldn't be almost as good as new.

My thoughts as well, seems Raymarine must have a problem with quality control if they have so many units returned and refurbished. OTOH, is it just a sales scam to attract customer contact and sell a new unit?

That's a bit unfair not knowing the facts. How do you know they weren't damaged? I bought one second hand with a declared fault that they fixed for me (very cheaply as well).
