I was wondering whether you have any YC dining faciltities that you'd like to share with us?

I'm prompted having just come back from the Royal Solent YC at Yarmouth which is a good gaff. Others that I've been impressed with lately include the one at Salcombe where they do a good carvery and Gins Farm, Royal Southampton's place up the Beaulieu. I'll plug my local club Keyhaven who do good sarnies and excellent Ringwood Fortyniner. I'm told that the Royal Lymington is good as well.

Incidently, the Royal Solent was bemoaning the fact that visitors to Yarmouth don't visit them enough. They say that they are quite often fairly empty on Friday and Saturday when you can't stick a pin in most of the pubs.

We have always been made most welcome and have had very good food and showers at
Royal Dart - on the Kingsweir side of Dartmouth
Royal Fowey

We are not members of anything other than CA and have had no problems.

You pipped me there with the R.S.Y.C. at Gins on the Beaulieu R. In fact, I'll probably be having lunch there today! They only serve the carvery on Sunday and serve lunches and dinners on Thursday, Friday and Saturday with even more limited opening times during December & January. The chef, Paul is excellent and Robert the Steward is singular - good man! The R.S.Y.C.'s main clubhouse at Ocean Village, Southampton, is also worth a visit with a chioce of dining experiences - posh and dripping wet! I like the Brading Haven Y.C at St. Helens near Bembridge in the I.o.W. and the Royal Victoria at Wootton I.o.W. and for something really different try the R.N.C.& R.A.Y.C. (Royal Naval Club & Royal Albert Yacht Club) in Pembroke ?Rd Old Portsmouth - like going back a century! Newton Ferrers, too - where does one stop? I agree Keyhaven's a nice lttle gaff though - much better than the Gun these days!

Well, that's my twopenneth for now! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Second the Royal Dart, very relaxed and good nosebag.

We're members of the ISC which is good for food.

Also the Royal Dorset in Weymouth. Good basic grub and very friendly.

Bembridge Sailing Club - not to be sniffed at.
RSouthernYC - used to do damn fine breakfasts on race days

PS The club port at Royal Solent, Yarmouth is not for the timid.

Brading Haven have always been very welcoming, there is also a rather funky club in Fowey but I dont know name, it hosted the Old Gaffers last year which was great fun.

It's weird stuff, the second bottle is always much stronger than the first, while the third bottle is impossible to finish, although Admiral Savage might have some success.

Royal Dorset in Weymouth has variable menu, but very convenient and very friendly (especially when everywhere booked at Bank Holidays)

When in Falmouth the Royal Cornwall YC always welcomes visiting yachtmen. Excellent Bar menu also Dining Room. Very comfortable and newly fitted out showers and toilets.

The Royal Victoria at Wootton Creek did us an excellent meal on our weekend works sailing jolly the year before last. Very friendly people, to us non yacht club types, and a decent bar. The pontoon was a bit wobbly on the way back, even though the tide was out.

It's alright, Ken does usually let someone have a glass out of the third bottle.

Royal Ulster Yacht Club is by far the best in the North. Excellent food and drink - but be careful, they dont like jeans or shirts without ties, other than that, very relaxed.

...and in a most beautiful building to boot.
