Recommendations for window frame refurb?

I tried new seals with all sorts of goo and seals without success on Jissel. Finally, I got fed up and took the aluminium frames which were an h section, where the perspex fitted into a rubber seal in the bottom of the h. I cut off the side of the h to make an l, cut perspex to the shape of the outside of the frames and fitted them with, from the outside, frame, neoprene tape, perspex, butyl tape, cabin side, wood trim made from thin marine ply. I bolted through everything using allen screws with dome nuts on the inside - way cheaper than interscrews, and they give a clean, neat finish.

Result, dry windows for WAY less than getting a professional to do them. I wouldn't do it on a newish boat, but for an older one, I wouldn't hesitate.
