I need a selection of marine quality electrical bits and pieces - plugs, connectors, wire. The usual suspects don't seem to have much range so I would end up having to order from several.

Merlin who have a good range have proved impossible to deal with as they loose orders and don't respond to emails.

Any suggestions for a single supplier who can be relied on?

Thanks

If you use an auto supplier make sure you get the tinned cable and the heatshrink connectors - everything will last a lot longer! Actually that applies to any supplier and some marine places will sell the cheaper stuff to anyone that wants to do it cheaper and thinks "it'll be ok!"

Absolutely. The one I quoted supplies tinned copper cable and heatshrink connectors.

If you know what you need and can put together a decent order then I've always found Genuinedealz.com in the USA to be excellent value even considering postage costs.

Why buy tinned wire? It takes a matter of minutes to tin cables.

I think you misunderstand what people mean when they talk of tinned cable

They mean cable made entirely of tinned wire strands.

it is resistant to corrosion in the marine environment.

Try www.rjsmarine.co.uk. He is just starting up and looking for new business, name is Richard Simpson - bought some 12awg tinned cable from him and very helpful. No connection just satisfied customer

Thanks, his website looks promising and I have contacted him. I need some thin tinned 2-conductor wire and the thinnest he has is 18AWG, I need some crimp connectors, the kind you push onto a tab, he doesn't seem to have those and I like the look of the BlueSea Dual USB Charger Socket, which his site says costs £0.00. But it does look like he has made an effort to get a decent range of quality stuff so I will see what he says in response to my questions.

(Yes, I only use tinned marine wire on the boat)

Not impressed so far! I posted a question via the webpage first thing this morning and no response after 7 working hours.

They do, but they're trade only and don't supply directly to retail customers.
Useful reference if you have a chandlery near you as most source from Aquafax, but you can't buy from them direct.

Indeed, I have an account with them if anybody wants any of their stuff in quantity and could get them to send direct, might take a day or so longer than online but their stock levels are really deep and unlike many places usually have the stuff they show on site.
