Hi. I've purchased a rya logbook but it's far more detailed than I'll ever need or use. It's a double page per day and I know I'll never complete it to the standard it offers. Obviously I should but I'd be kidding myself if I said I would.

I'm after a basic logbook, a5, 1 page per day type of thing. Just something to record date, weather, departure/arrival times, mileage etc and a few notes. It's for a cruiser by the way, not sail. Most of my trips will be leaving my home marina, heading out for some fishing or to another marina.

Any recommendations?

Why not buy a plain hard-back exercise book from a high-street stationer and rule up any columns you need (if you need them) yourself?
That way, if you only want to put the date and the time you left your berth and returned to it, you can -- without it looking as though you've missed something out.
But if you ever feel the need to do a full hour-by hour entry with columns for position, course, speed, wind, weather, instrument readings and "remarks", you can do that, too.

A5 5 year diary from WHSmith or other stationary retailers.

There are 5 years to each page.

Enough space for essential cruising notes (departure, arrival, crew, fuel volume/price) and I always record fishing notes for future reference.
Notes page at the back that I have recorded some boat specific info / telephone numbers etc.

It is also quite nice a reminder of trips we did a few years back.

I just use a lined spiral-bound notebook. That way I can add any additional information like servicing and maintenance, and notes of check-ups in winter.

I use one by Evergreen, It was cheep and what the chandler had. Almost full now.

I tend to use one side for relevant stuff like courses times passing things distances weather ect if I feel like it sometimes its just left went out for the day came back.
On the other page my wife or daughter write a little story. About what a lovely day, cute seals, who came with us what the dog did.
Keeps us all happy.
I like the sections for maintenance, fuel, ect.
I'm a sailor so my log is probably much less than a mobo might like.

There all kinds of pree printed. RYA as good as any I suppose. Log what you feel like and leave the rest.

I don't bother with this myself. but a note book which you can have in your pocket. for stuff which comes up is handy and write up a nice log later. I just use the log and the stains just add character.:)

I use the red cover "Log book for cruising under power" by Willis and Bartlett as available from Chandleries and Amazon.

I generally put in basic tide information HW/LW and heights and range as well as times at waypoints and basic weather info as well as who is on board and some social info.

One page per trip per page so it suits a MOBO.
