The building the new Lounge was the worst thing that happened IMHO. While there's now less whining and whingeing in here, a lot of Scuttlebutt's humour went there. Even some sailing related items appear there now.

I call in there, but don't like the smutty postcards. I prefer the public bar.

I don't like the smutty postcards either but to be fair I think Lakesailor put in a poll which guaged how far he could go (Bikini/Page 3/Penthouse or whatever) and people settled on Page 3.

It does mean I don't open any threads initiated by Lakesailor on there which is a pity as he posts a lot of sense (or enjoyable nonsense) on other threads.

And the lack of a direct reply to your post proves my point somewhat, if you become a registerred user and fill in all the boxes, a new forum opens below the ones you normally see, this is The Lounge, and is where almost all talk is of a non boaty nature, some funny , some not so , and so on, worth looking at just to see if it's your cup of tea. To many it's not, to some it's the first place to look to see what's going on. Is that any clearer /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif , and yes I like my smileys

Yes, but I value LS's sailing comments, as well as his opinions, and his boaty pics on Scuttlebutt. I choose not to buy the Sun, the Sport, or the News of the World, and for the same reason I tend not to open some the Lounge threads. Which is a shame, cos I'm sure they can't all be smutty. I'm not a prude, but genuinely dislike that sort of wink-wink, nudge-nudge stuff. In part, it's probably demeaning or offensive for some women forumites, and I certainly don't think that it does the guys any good.

Anyway, having started this rant, I've got to go down to the boat now. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Over to you Phil........

What is the "Lounge" that some of the regulars refer to?

Find a quiet place, stand still, listen.....hear that continual whining sound? You've found it. ( A Newbie wearing a Nomex suit )

Thanks Sierraone44

Nice, feel really welcome allready. Did you wedgy the new kids at school as well?

Mr Lakesailor,

When I appeared I acted a bit daft because i wanted to make freinds and everyone presumed I was a troll. Anyway I asked a few boaty questions that were just as daft and people were sure I was a troll. I then went offline and discovered all the old posts and read them till my head hurt. Now I am much better informed and try to use my knowledge of people to join in with better results.

I got a few PM's explaining etiquite and followed their advice. Glad I did now as this has brightened up a pretty boring life!

So I am glad to be here, thanks for welcoming me!

I do admit to wanting a boat and a girlfreind though but so far have been very unlucky. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Mr T.

Seeing that you've been registered barely a year, and in view of the number of posts you've notched, would you described yourself as a quantity or a quality poster?

Well I'm a well -rounded person. Not in the physical sense you understand. So a bit of all sorts creeps in. Keith and I had a discussion and we agreed that secondary sexual characteristics are part of the lingua franca these days. I did agree with someone else that I would use a shocked symbol for posts that may be upsetting to them. It's hard to remember that so don't rely on it.
I must say that others have been posting more extreme pictures.
I don't include pictures as a shock tactic. I use them as illustrative images for posts. It's difficult for me to guauge how others will find them as they don't upset me at all.
I really cannot put myself in anyone else's shoes.

I come as a complete package.

(did someone say "complete pillock"?)
