Reccomendation for wind speed/direction and heading gauge on laptop

Hi all

I've been playing with getting my nav system set up on my laptop. I have open cpn running and working correctly but I'm looking for a recommendation for software to allow me to see my instrument data and heading on my laptop.

Does anyone use one that they can recommend?

I have not done it, but it will depend on the format of your data. NMEA0183 data should be easy enough but you are likely to need to buy an expensive piece of kit if you want to see NMEA2000 data on a laptop, or indeed any of the proprietary systems.

Let others know your data system to get relevant advice.
P.S. If your data is NMEA0183 take a look at the Actisense website.

Assuming that your data is already arriving at your PC through USB or wifi, NavMonPC should do everything you want. It's free and you can set the display up exactly how you like it. :)

I second NavmonPC. I use it together with OpenCPN. I feed all my NMEA incoming data to NavMonPC then output all to a logical port to send to OpenCPN.

OpenCPN does have instrument display and can receive all incoming data but I like the NavMonPC displays and log/data display functions.

Yep, I've set up the actisense through a USB port so receiving all the data from the network.

Navmon PC is exactly what I was looking for, thank you.

Im now working through the process to get open cpn to recognise the virtual port set up in NavMon. I will likely get stuck and be back with another question!
