Does anyone know of a reasonably priced mooring in the Southampton/Portsmouth area for my 27ft fin keel boat with 1.5m draft? It can be a swinging mooring or pontoon but must be under £1500 p.a I would use the word 'cheap' but I dont think it exists in the sailing world!

Only know about Portsmouth Harbour. I don't think you can get a pontoon berth for less than £1500 (more like £3k).

Last year our swinging mooring cost £395 from Hardway Marine (Gosport). It was 10mins in the dinghy from the slipway and we could use it from April to November. The mooring was very exposed to the elements and passing shipping. Hardway might still have some available that are nearer the shore. The Gosport Boatyard also have them with a (limited) ferry service from Hardway to your mooring for £800ish/yr. Wicormarine (Portchester) is more expensive, but probably more convenient as you don't have to drive into Gosport. Last year the ones near the shore cost £1/ft/wk +vat for the summer and £0.8/ft/wk +vat for the winter. The downstream ones were cheaper.

Don't know if Chichester Hbr is too far for you, but you might want to give them a try. B3's (dry at low springs) in Emsworth Channel were offered at half price last year (about £400) for the less popular moorings. Most were vacant all season.
A bit of a long slog to get there in the dingy, but free ferry service at weekends in season.
