I was thinking of putting a folding cockpit table attached to the Whitlock steering pedestal but prices are bit eye watering. Any ideas where I can get something god that is a reasonable price?

Jimi

How about this for £25.

Slightly altered by yourself according to needs + a nice bit of varnish.

I've just got one to modify a bit. I reckon it's bamboo so nice and green. Don't think I would want it outside all the time.

HOL acacia, Side table, 50x50 cm - IKEA

Edit.
Is Acacia Good Choice For Outdoor Furniture?
Superb water resistance and durable properties of the wood makes it perfect for the outdoor furniture. If treated with a weather-proof finish, the furniture made up of Acacia wood can last for decades.

What’s your budget, Jim?
PS you may have to wait til the afterlife to get something really ‘god’.

I bought an excellent table from, I think, Boroughbridge Marina Boroughbridge Marina Ltd | BBMarina.co.uk | Buy Sell Rent Boats, last year for £129.99. I can't confirm they are the people who supplied it without going back through my accounts. I just tried to call them on 01423 323400 but it went to voicemail. There is an email address and a mobile number on the website. If it wasn't them I apologise.

Looks a bit like this one: Cockpit Table

+1 We had very similar on previous boat. Probably not Ikea but looked similar did the job. I do have one of the fancy teak folding pedestal jobs on current boat though.

We got the £20 Ikea one initially as a stop gap whilst we looked at other options. It was so successful we kept it for years thereafter.
Like you our current boat came with an optional built in teak table - fantastic, but the original owner paid at least 50 times the price of the Ikea one !

I see a bright future in re-selling IKEA 'cockpit tables' (with the branding removed, obviously) at, say, only 25 times retail. Ikea is just around the corner from the southampton show too. Hmm.. :)

I made a table from a plank of iroko. Used half of it to make a frame fixed to the binnacle with a couple of little shelves, then the table itself was made from a piece of plank with another piece cut down the middle to make opening leaves. Cost was about £50 including the hinges from the frame to the table and the opening leaves. I got the timber merchants to do most of the cutting and planing so was only left with finishing and cutting out the bits for the hinges.

Cheap - Rubberwood TV Table | Dunelm. We have two of these on the boat and use them often. I recently painted the table tops as the original varnish had worn on the older one - after several years use . They are not left out in the weather of course .

Not so cheap - marine teak have several styles to pick from
