Holy crap the price of berths around Dublin!!!!

With the wind in the north we can't really anchor so can anyone recommend a reasonably priced place for visiting yachts around Dublin?

Can't help about moorings but stayed at Howth marina a couple of times; they may have moorings.

Anchoring is possible south of Howth Point and, I presume, off Ireland's Eye. A few miles to the north of Howth, Lambay Island has three bays that give shelter from most wind directions. We sheltered there in a strong northeasterly two or three weeks ago.

It's pretty much of a muchness - from about €3 at Poolbeg to 3.60 per metre at Dun Laoghaire - I think I pay the same about everywhere - though Greystones is €4.00, a bit over the odds for an unfinished project............

Howth is full this weekend - we were allowed to stay only 15 hours last Wednesday night after arriving late from Bangor - and they said they were full 3 weekends on the trot.
Came to Dun Laoghaire and pleased we did - right next to the Dart station and good facilities in town, also right outside the marina.
We are on the weekly rate - euro 18/ metre /week plus electricity.

Yeah we did that too. Along side at the Irish Yacht Club now.

Howth is usually quite busy, Malahide is a a nice busy village , plenty of visitors berths great nightlife for 30+ but it is tidal
Dun-laoghaire plenty of berths, not tidal, light rail into Dublin, price wise all about the same.if you are happy on a swinging mooring you might get one in malahide a chap called Billy Hatch has some

Not sure why you think Dublin is so expensive. Like others we had a great stopover in Dun Laoghaire last year.
A great place to leave a boat for a short time as great shelter, very friendly, great transit links - and it was massively cheaper than anywhere we had passed in England (clearly France was massively cheaper than England though).
I guess it depends slightly on your Euro exchange rate but still not a bad deal
