reasonable cost for injector servicing

note the word reasonable and then x10 because it's marine related but anyway....

want my injectors serviced on my 680hp MAN 2848LXE v8 diesels and want a considered opinion for:

-1-cost of just injector servicing (i.e. I remove and replace) and go to fred bloggs truck servicing and get them done

-2-cost of removal and servicing by MAN franchise dealer

I know -2- is hard to say as you haven't seen the access but it's ''good'' for all but 2 injectors each engine and the local MAN guy quoted without looking at the boat anyway....

Don't know about 2) but for 1) I pay £15 per injector - different make but an injector is an injector. Obviously more if a nozzle or wummit needs replacing and then the price WILL vary according to price.

Not true - the injectors on my engine are also the high pressure pumps!

Try to look for a small diesel specialist or commercial vehicle garage not main dealer.costs up to 30% cheaper and in my case easier to deal with.

Then you should have made it clear it is a common rail/PD diesel and that you wanted the whole gubbins serviced not just the injector
