Well, after spending the first half decent day in weeks working away on the boat, I am now left with one more laminate of ply before the hole on my foredeck is ready for fairing and I can start applying paint, at last, then I can really get moving on the job list and get some sailing in.
So how is your job list going ?.
Did this glorious weather we had today help things along ?

Didn't do much today. A couple of days work to clean and polish the hull, polish the prop and anti-jollop. Not being weekend dependent it looks easy for booked launch on 15th April.

We are looking forward to hearing about your first sail Dave - surely can't be long now - this year? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ready to go.

This year's minimalistic job list completed. Have already compiled next winters list. Multiple pages.
Just a quick lift, pressure wash, fitting new anodes left to do (once everyone's in and prices are sensible again).

Moved back to our swinging mooring this afternoon.

Going sailing tomorrow /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I wish. We are 250 miles from the boat, so both days have to be decent to make it worth the trip. We are afloat though and next weekend looks OK at present. Plan to take a carload down and run up the beach for a quick scrub off, then try and put some of the three crates of running rigging back on - at least all the blocks with messenger lines.

Have been assured that should we fail to launch soon, someone may be needing a divorce solicitor, and it is unlikely to be herself /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Plans already made to utilise the space in the barn for the Rangie to be worked on first, then the other boat, and all to be completed by the end of the year /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
These wimin are so demanding at times /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Spent the weekend doing jobs that I did not know I was going to do or was going to do once afloat.

Fitted a new Chart Plotter and AIS engine.
A Navman 5507 and NASA unit.
Looks to be a big improvement of the old Lowrance unit.
Not getting any AIS data around Cambridge though /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
Can't think why.

Fitted cockpit speakers for the stereo in some redundant holes.
Will now be able to listen to my favorite tracks even with the engine running.

Sorting out the wiring for the connections to the mast and re-feeding the wires at the foot of the mast to avoid chafe.

Fitted a new towing eye to the hard Dinghy.

Still some bits to complete.

Now made firm plans to launch a Levington on Friday with a shakedown cruise to Brightlingsea on Saturday.

HWMBO has done some trickery with the batteries in Chellers to arrange them in a more sensible fashion. He's currently next door soldering something which will be part of the battery system - I think it's an on/off engine switch or something helpful. There's still some more work to do on the batteries but it's going well so far.

We're having a last-ditch South Coast cruise on Thursday and Friday from Eastbourne to Brighton and back to make the most of our 14 Free Nights At Premier Marinas, of which we have so far used precisely zero nights. Dog has just been booked into friendly dog-sitter's house so we can enjoy the cruise without worrying about finding patches of grass for the doggie necessary. This is the last cruise (and only a 2 day one at that) before Chellers heads north to muddier climes on the East Coast.

I need 2 full days on the boat then I'll be ready. It seems to be finding the 2 days at the moment that is causing the problem /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Replacing original gate valve seacocks ( 1974 ) with ball valves - sod of a job.
Just leaves standing rigging replacement. hull paint job. antifoul application - maybe a few days yet!!!
Ramsgate has a lot to answer for ( see previous post re boat stuck in Ramsgate )

Well, we bought a Fein Multimaster and started cutting some more stuff out. Bulkhead now reduced, anchor winch removed from its 25 year old bedding, tested it in some deck seams. With the boat in a shed we may even get it in on time!

Yep, just need a full weekend to have a shake down cruise. Baring the usual ongoing stuff, I'm about ready for Ostend, tides printed, waypoints input etc etc.
Could do with a new mainsail tho'. I feel a bit more overtime coming on /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Spent Friday on boat doing those 'last minute' things, well some of them! Engine started on domestic battery but not engine battery despit charging over winter when been at boat (fortnightly). Batteries are now out on bench at DB Marine for recharge / test but expect both need replacing which should be done on Thurs / Fri this week.

Boat is antifouled, VHF etc back on, main on. Need a gentle wind hour to put furling genoa back on.

Still a list of jobs to do but does anyone ever complete 'the list'!

Launch is Sat 5 Apr if yard have caught back the backlog!!

Managed half the list this year..... a bit of a result... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Feel for you Jim..... just think of those lovely long hot days of summer, at anchor somewhere, completely relaxed.... it'll all be worth it!

Boat fully launched and ready to go... but weather non compliant!

Launched 2 weeks ago but weather prevented a decent sail till yesterday.

Had a magnificent fast reach out towards the Sunk & back into the Deben in time for a quiet sunset...

For those interested - Deben Bar has moved a bit with the shoal towards Mid Knoll extending but the Bar itself shelves gently as you exit with least water around 40-50m inside W Knoll (red).

If anything a little more water than late last season but check the Eastcoastrivers.com site for the new survey & chartlet due today.

she is going in regardless,i need a part from the states so that i can do all of my remaining mods.Ive done a lot of work to her,but she can be sailed so its in on the 18th as long as weather permits.

morgana,if you are feeling bored and need to do some more mods to a boat,Baston is only 3 mins away /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Sorry John, think I've said it before, but if not you will be welcome on my tub anytime and borrow too if you fancy. I think the boat is about the only thing that's going right for me at the moment.
