Left boat ashore last weekend all freshly antifouled and ready to go. One of my Suffolk Yacht Harbour spies has phoned me yesterday to say my boat is no longer where I left it. Can it be launched? Is it really true? Can I actually go sailing at long last?

Crew booked and plans (well what pass for plans in my chaotic life) in place for shakedown cruise this weekend. Charging up all the hand held stuff today. Driving down and victualling late this afternoon. Sun is shining. Can't wait.

If you see Beyond Reason out and about this weekend please take photo. Unless I'm making an idiot of myself again in which case please keep camera in pocket.

Hope engine starts ....

I do that with the car keys! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif SWMBO has usually 'tidied up'

Have a good weekend.

Having been away on boat or from family every weekend since mid march I am having a weekend at home as I will be away for at least the next 3 so if you see Flipper out sailing please report her stolen.

Sunday is Cup Final Day! No 3 son playing for Bressingham U16s!

We should be about on the Orwell/Stour too over the weekend (although as we have a week off next week, we may keep going and pop round to Burnham).
Camera primed and ready.

Was on the boat today, (swing mooring, Pin Mill, Ward 30) gorgeous day, but jobs to do so no sailing. All was going great until, as I was drilling a hole in the bottom of the boom (for rigid vang) a gust caught the boom, which knocked the drill sideways snapping the 6mm (long) drill bit and the broken stub duried itself very painfully into my wrist! First thoughts were that I'd hit the artery but the gush soon subsided so no need for a mayday! Badly bruised the tendon though, carried on for a few hours before giving up and driving home to Cambridge. It's bloody killing me now and can't move my fingers (typing with one hand!).

And so ends a happy day on the river /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif. Just hope it mends in time for me to get the 'essential' jobs done before Oostend!

Sincerely hope everyone elses day was better than mine!

Crispin that sounds dreadful! Hope you get yourself down to the docs to get it checked out.

Just to rub it in, we had a beautiful sail down to Brightlingsea on Saturday. Not a lot of wind, but hey, fantastic sunshine and a nice gentle cruise for the shakedown. Only 'faults' discovered were lack of port nav light and steaming light. Port light fixed with new bulb on return to syh, steaming light will hopefully get fixed before the Ostend trip.

Great beat back up the Wallet back to syh today. Where were the paparazzi?

We didn't see you as we didn't get out until yesterday.
Also had cruising chute practice going up the Stour (anyone get a picture of it -green/yellow/white between Shotley and Wrabness).
Only forumite spotted was Sailorman.

A slightly disappointing day. Fixed the Yeoman up - all running nicely. Gave the engine a bit of a thrash - stern gland perfect but water in the bilges - coming from the rudder. That was on next winter's list and can stay there. Then I noticed a dribble of coolant and found that the hose from the header tank rests against the heat exhanger and over the last 20 years has worn through the hose. So off with that and a quick fix before 22nd.

Metcheck currently showing no wind for Ostend weekend so donkey needs to be behaving.

Still in the shed. Wrestled the anaconda of a new exhaust into into place and stuffed the fuel tank back from whence it came.

Have a launch date!!!! If all goes well should be bobbing on the briny on 22 May.
