Re-using ss hose clips

I've seen a lot of stainless clips which have a mild steel work screw, so have a good look at the condition of this! If your boat was built like mine (and many others) most hoses are single clipped, so if you double clip by adding a new one, then you have the best of both worlds.

Mine have bits of paint, where the previous owner decided to spray the engine whole, and assorted **** on them. Wondered if there was anything that would bring back the "new brightness" without paint stripper. It's not massiveley important, I just hate throwing good stuff away.

Immerse them in a solvent-cellulose thinners perhaps-and any paint should come off without any trouble.

Dont do it on the boat........................

Unless you are showing you boat at the next boat show why bother?

Because, apart from hating to throw good stuff away, I'm CDO (not OCD, the letters HAVE to be in alphabetical order! :) ) and I like the various parts on the boat to look good and bright. This has the practical benefit that any corrosion problems are easy to spot before they become a problem.

No problem. I am just an old hairy engineer who says as long as it works then I don't care what it looks like down in the bilges.
