Re-Painting Fibreglass Dash

Those textured dashes comes up well if you use some polish and wax. A friend restored a speedboat and he was about to paint the faded dash but it came up really well with a good clean, a light polish and a coat of wax.

Any suggestions on products I may give this a try first

Regards

I think he just cleaned the surface, then compounded/polished it by hand with a microfiber cloth. He used a light compound to remove the oxidised/discoloured layer and went over it a few times. Then he polished it with regular marine polish.
Then it was waxed by hand to protect it and prevent it fading again. 3M make good marine compounds/polish/wax.

"the problems wth paint and prep are vast, not as bad as gelcoat but still heavy."

Really really!

Ok, it was a quick reply, perhaps best read in the voice of Nigel Planer from the young ones.

I should have said:

There will be hurdles when using paint when it comes to the prep.
There will be more hurdles if trying to do the same job in gelcoat.

Perhaps it would be best to try to restore, rather than re-apply.
