After 5 years, the polymarine 2-part glue holding the davit pad to the Waveline PVC dinghy is starting to let go.

What is the best way to re-glue the pad? Do I remove the old glue first? If so, what is the best way to remove the old glue first?

Or would re-glueing on top of the old glue, be OK?

Any advice appreciated...

Gluing onto existing glue never works. You'll probably have to use mechanical methods to remove the old stuff followed by a cleanup with acetone (check suitability first).

See the Polymarine advice guides https://www.polymarine.com/advice/

Note that the primer / solvent 2903 will reactivate old PVC glue and is essential for priming PVC ( it contains tetrahydrofuran which is a solvent or PVC)
Despite this I would remove as much of the old glue as possible.

On advice from Polymarine, I use a sanding flap wheel in the drill at fairly low speed followed by acetone to clean off the old adhesive but re-fixed fittings often come loose again after a year or even less in hot climate.
