Re-fitting through hull bits.

Should I do all the antifouling, painting etc. and then fit the through hulls or fit and bed them down first and then paint?

How much do you want your through-hulls to covered in barnacles? This is a bit like that other 'hardy perennial' about painting the propeller. I always found that barnacles and mussels love to settle on any metallic bits, especially the prop. I always antifouled miine and then coated it with lanoline as well, to try to give them less chance to stick on. After slathering the lanoline on to the prop I would warm it up so that it melted and formed a smooth surface, fondly hoping that it wouldn't wash off quite as quickly as if I hadn't done that.

I am with you on antifouling props' but I never thought of the lanoline, what pleasure I have been depriving myself of.
