Re Chroming ...what do I ask for?

Getting two lewmar 40 rechromed and I think Doug Taylor may be the company in Somerset. I dont know anything about Rechroming . What do I ask for??? I gather there's hard chrome, deep chrome shiny chrome nickel plated chrome. Any help would be much appreciated! Also anyone any experience of this company, good or bad and any idea of costs. Ta Nic

To get a long lasting chrome finish your winch bodies should be triple plated by a good and known reliable company.Triple plating is a copper base,nickel second coat followed by a chrome top layer. I dont believe hard chrome would be required on a cruising yacht.Make sure you take the advice and ensure the rough surface of the drum is not removed,chrome is very slippery!
