Re-assembly of raw water pump

Re assembling Yanmar 2GM20 raw waer pump.

What grease for the bearings, and what do I use for the shaft where it passes through the seal. There was some white stuff on the shaft what I disassembled which looked like very expensive ?teflon? grease I saw at work.

You need a water resistant grease which looks like Lard. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Having done this the week before im puzzled, the bearings should be double shielded ones so you wont be able to put any more grease in them as they are already packed.
As for the oil seal, normal grease is fine, the seal is a double lipped variety. make sure you put the bearing cover in the right way round, also replace the rubber water seal ring.
