Having sanded throgh the old veneer, I have bought some veneer to re-apply, natural wood, "Construction Veneer" 2.5mm thick. It is not the same colour by a long way, the (I believe) Sapele veneer that was on the door and in the cabin is much yellower almost like varnished antique pine. This is very definitely "Mahoganny Sapele Veneer" as advertised and redish in colour, no matter it will I still look nice, different colours of wood don't tend to jar IMHO. Are there different types of Sapele (veneer)

What best to stick the veneer to the existing (sanded) door? I have available epoxy and waterproof wood glue (Presumably PVA). The door will be varnised on completion with Epifanes 2 Pack.

I would use epoxy. Place weights on top or clamp a piece of ply on the veneer while the epoxy cures. I assume at 2.5mm the veneer is stable and flat. I expect your original has faded from UV as will your new one if you do not keep it covered!

A good way of weighting things down is bags of water. The water in the bag spreads the downward pressure nicely

Probably a good suggestion for someone else! Me and epoxy are bad enough without adding water into the equation. Tis done, fortunatley not an overly large door, I had some block board scavenged from a skip last week and enough clamps for 2 per side plus a large bag of birdseed. What will be will be.

Very good. Now you will have to make a nifty canvas flap to cover it when you are not using the boat. Will last just about forever then.
