ST600 Hydraulic pump and motor. The oil seel has gone in mine. Oil has got though to the motor and knackered it. We are told that oil seals cant be fitted and there are no spare parts. New pump £400. It's only four years old. Can anyone suggest a repair or alternative. Must say that I have not personaly seen the inside of the pump and it's 300 miles away in Plymouth. Not to bothered about the cost but dont like being ripped off with crap parts at inflated prices.

H, I'm sure your local hydraulic specialist could sort it. May even visit boat and remove/overhaul/replace it at a fraction of new cost.
Failing that, buy Tutts a new pair of stringback driving gloves from Halfords.

Re: Raytheon Auto Pilot Pump

Raytheon have been the subject of a management buy-out and are now known as Raymarine.
I've just had one of my 4000ST actuators rebuilt there, collected today - total cost including 1 new tiller extension, 2 spare pin-sockets, new plug, rebuilt motor (brushes, bearings, replacement shaft/comm) and new end-cap for a total cost of £134.

I can assure you it's a different company from Raytheon - trying much harder, cut staff-turnover and definitely trying to delight customers.

Give Ruth Willetts a call on 02392 693611 x 1230, she's in charge of customer-service, back from holiday Tuesday of next week.
Share your weltschmerz with her. I'd be interested to see how they react - keep me posted by board e-mail.

PS Oil-seal failure after how many hours run? 4 years sounds worse!!!

Good luck.

Re: Raytheon Auto Pilot Pump

Well thanks for that. I was stood by my mechanic when he wrang round for spares and got the reply from two people. Cant repair £400 quid for new pump. Just want to see his face when some one tells me it can be mended with parts from a Hornby train set!!

Glad my post from home reached the thread - Hope you get a positive response from this guy - don't know anything about him and there wasn't a Tel no, only the emaiL address. You will obviously have to have the oil seal replaced as well - but wether this is possible I cannot say. If it can't be replaced it's a poor design, I would suggest the pump is a fairly standard off the shelf type, in which case try your local Hydraulic supplier from the yellow pages, if they can't help you they can probably suggest someone who can.
Keep us posted of the final outcome.
