Raymarine

I have got through several of these over the years. My unit is mounted on deck and it lasts about 3 years since it's not designed for outside use. However I do protect it as best I can.
The readings for a working unit should be...
Red/green 5kohm +/- 5%
Blue/green 1.66kohm anticlockwise to the stop
3.3 kohm clockwise to the stop

This info from Raymarine many years ago. Hope of some use.

That implies non linearity or were the readings taken in-situ and the offset taken out in the software?

No it implies linear but only half the pot rotation is used and that the pot centre is also the steering centre.

Because the mid-point between 3k3 and 1k66 is 2k48.

The Vishay website shows similar models but could not recognise the reference number. I have contacted them.

Vishay advises that the current reference is 357B0502KXB104158.

I ordered from RS a near equivalent yesterday on the (apparently mistaken) belief it would arrive first thing.

Once it arrives, I'll post a few photos of the replacement procedure in case anyone else has a failure. There is not too much to it really.

Vishay have just advised the the part is proprietary to Raymarine.

The RS replacement has still not arrived.

Sounds a bit like time to see if any electronics engineers have anything in their used spare bits box. I recall that Ollie who runs Seapower Marine Electronics at Suffolk Yacht Harbour helped me some while ago with a minor part saving me a heavy bill. Wrong side of thhe country for you but try a similar tack further West, worth a few phone calls.
