I have had to replace my old one and buy the latest version with its silly unsupported crimped connections where we used to have plugs and sockets - but my question related to the totally unintelligible manual. Can anybody tell me in plain English which buttons to press in what order to set the depth alarm?

I always find that the Raymarine manuals are fairly easy to understand - have you tried reading it?

Hi

With relevant alarm screen showing, press Trip & Reset together, then use Reset to go up and Trip to go down, to whatever level you wish to set as alarm threshold. Save by pressing Trip & Reset together again.

Cheers

Exactly like it says in the manual, then? :)

Hardly "totally unintelligible", is it?

Thank you PRV. The text you have copied into your post looks much more helpful but is not on any page of the paperwork that came with my i50. I have now found the proper manual on their website and it tells me far more than the piece of multlingual junk that came in the box. Thanks also to those who told me to RTFM. But first you have to have the FM.

Indeed, Raymarine appear only to supply user manuals in CD form (or download from their website) with their kit, if you want a paper copy then one can be ordered but IIRC they cost around £20 each.

Feels rather 'cheap' compared with the spiral bound manuals which came in branded folders which they used to supply.
