Raymarine ST70, Possible Problem

Hi,
Any of the learned forumites have experience of Raymarine instruments?

I am attempting to reset the depth offset, I have followed the manual through the transducer setup menu but the search for a transducer indicates that there is not one fitted (or the system is unable to find one) nonsense, as I am getting a depth reading, but from under the keel as opposed to the waterline.

Any ideas 'O Wise Ones'?

No specific knowledge of ST70's, but ST60 displays can be configured as master or repeater.
You're not in repeater mode by any chance?

Correct, it gives a depth reading, although as I'm not sure of the set up I want to reconfigure to waterline depth.
To configure the Depth Offset you have to go into 'Transducer Set Up' the system then searches for transducers on the system, mine tells me that none found, which has to be a nonsense as I get a depth reading in normal operating mode.

Where is it getting the depth from? Is it a seatalkng/nmea2000 transducer like the dst800 or do you have a separate instrument like the st60 tridata that supplies depth to the st70 through the old seatalk interface? I think the transducer search and setup is only intended for seatalkng devices and if you have the depth coming from another instrument, you have to do any adjustment on that.

Are you using a DST800 combined speed and depth transducer? I had numerous problems with my ST70 DST800 combination getting confused over calibration although mostly speed, I applied an update for the transducer from the Airmar site http://www.airmartechnology.com/2009/about/download-software.php however I had to buy a USB to NMEA2000 adapter to do it.

I had also had the ST70 software updated, which can be done locally if you have one of the new plotters but otherwise like me you will have to take it to a dealer.


Its all been ok since I updated both the ST70 and DST800
