Raymarine ST60 wind instrument ----

I've just had a similar kind of experience. How old is the transducer? Mine was all to do with the seal around the plug on the transducer allowing water in. These transducers operate at such low voltage even a little dampness will allow the voltage to disappear. If the voltage on the err, orange cable I think it is, is too low, it will think it's a repeater (hence the dashs).

Is it the ST60 or ST60+? Does the transducer have round or square cups?

It's an ST60. Thanks for the feedback everyone - good to know I am not alone - Will sail to UK and get if fixed!

Hello Michael, you may be able to fix it yourself if it is just water ingress. It is likely dampness rather than corrosion at this point. If you climb the mast, the transducer is easily unscrewed from the plug. A chap who helped me massively is paulm@it-services1.co.uk - he is an expert in the electronics of these and might be able to sell you my old one (that he has repaired) and send you it out so you can just climb the mast, swap it and you’ll be back in action in a single mast climb. Send him your old one and he will refund and amount as he’ll repair your old unit.

that is so kind of you - thank you for all that and I will get in touch with Paul and see where he is... I'm afraid my mast climbing days are over and importing UK stuff to France is an expensive nightmare but I do intend sailing over to Eastbourne at the end of the week or as soon as the weather settles and will go from there... Good to know it is not terminal...
very grateful
Michael
