Advice needed please. We have a tiller pilot that has power going to the plug built into the boat but is failing to operate - it looks like the cable going in may have been snatched.
How does the ram assembly split apart? It is simply screwed together tightly or is there more to it? Any advice would be much appreciated. ?

Before taking it apart - I'd suggest checking that there is sufficient of a current at the plug, built in to the boat.
All my actuator non-functionings have been down to either a broken or an intermittent supply. That includes a 120kg crew-member sitting on it and causing motor and leadscrew to part and over a period of 23 years and 25K nm.
Just checking volts is inadequate - you need to pull a decent current - a 48 watt headlamp bulb is good.
