I have replaced the burnt out motor of my Raymarine ST4000 with a RS-555 DC motor which I bought online for a few bucks. It looks identical to the original, but it lacks the wiring at the bottom of the engine, which seems to connect the positive and negative poles (see attached photos of the original Raymarine motor). As the pilot is malfunctioning, I am wondering whether this wiring might be (at least part of) the explanation. Does anybody know what its function is, and how I could replicate it with the new motor?
Note: the original Raymarine motor also had a little bolt screwed in at the top of the motor. The purpose of this screw is also a bit unclear to me, but I duly moved it to the new motor.
