Hi I have recently installed a ST60 ch wind vmg. what exactly does the Tack facility tell me ?

It tells you the heading that you will make if you tack. Saves overtacksing the grey matter!!
Needs boat speed and heading to be on seatalk.

thank you for your answer but how does it know what angle your boat will sail to the wind .

Presumably calculates true wind angle, then adds/subtracts 2x that to/from current heading. Hence need for Seatalk data.
(Perhaps just as good to add/subtract ~90 deg. in your head).

thank you for your answer but how does it know what angle your boat will sail to the wind .
Presumably it assumes that it will sail at the same angle on the other tack, as you are currently managing on this tack.
