Raymarine Speed Transducer

The speed transducer of my ST40 has been damaged with the wire broken off flush with the top. Has anyone had any success with opening a transducer up and reconnecting the leads? Failing that and I think it unlikely any suggestions as to where I can buy a replacement for less than £80+
