Has anyone tried any form of lubrication on the spindle of a Raymarine(arrimar) speed paddle wheel? I find mine often sticking despite replacing the spindle and wheel. Once it starts to turn usually will keep turning for that day. The wheel is clean and has a coating of anti-foul.

Thanks for that. The spindle does spin freely. Annoyingly it appears to stick perhaps via the slight sideways movement which is why I fitted a new spindle thinking there was slight wear.

Have you tried slightly changing the orientation of the transducer in its housing, so that the water flows at a slight angle?

My ST60 is also 14yrs old and never given trouble. There is a little sideways play of the wheel on its spindle but not much.

I just smear a little silicone grease over the wheel and surrounds and usually get through the season without having to clean it more than a couple of times.
