Raymarine software update issue

Hi All,

Trying to update our C120 classic plotter. Raymarine info advises not to use compact flash cards exceeding 256MB but the latest software version I've downloaded is over 2GB ! I understand there was an earlier software update we probably missed which enabled the unit to accept larger capacity cards.

Anyone got any experience of this issue?

Not sure what you downloaded but I'm sure the current download is only about 5.4Mb for the C120 Classic

Are you refering to the Lighthouse II software update?

This isn't compatible with with the 'classic' C series plotters.

Thanks Martin and LG. I hadn't spotted that there was a lower download option for Classic. I was indeed downloading Lighthouse. Fingers crossed now my update goes well. Whilst I have your attention, is there a way of doing the update off the boat? I have the plotter at home but there's no mains power cable.

You will need power! Otherwise no reason that I am aware of for the unit to be onboard.

Don't forget to back up your waypoints, routes, etc before performaing the update.

Thanks I have the instructions for backing up printed off.

Is there no mains (AC) connection capability? Trying to avoid hour plus drive to boat, connect up, software issue, return home, etc etc.

It only runs on DC, 11-32v.

Bit cold for that, it works better at moderate temperatures.

I imagine the Raymarine power lead is hard-wired into the boat.

Bit cold for that, it works better at moderate temperatures.

Certainly true. Forget using it below 10C but at 25C you can see yellow stains vanish as you watch. I used to pour hot water over GRP to heat up small areas and dissolve oxalic acid in hot water to get it to work in winter.
