Any idea how a Satellite TV dome can be fitted so it doesn't obstruct the scanner ?

My recommendation is - don't buy the Raymarine ones.
I'm actually a great fan of them but they are actually made by Intellian.
And I've had some great support from Intellian - even though mine are actually the Raymarine rebadged ones.

My Raymarine domes had a kind of lacquer on them and the Raymarine logo eventually peeled off - looked a mess.
Intellian replaced the dome covers (6 years old) free of charge - I just had to pay the carriage.

Don't get me wrong though
The Raymarine/Intellian kit is way better than the KVH equivalent - IMHO

Lots of choices. On mine I extended the s/s upside down U that holds the nav lights, and mounted the dome on a bracket sticking out frontwards from the U. all custom made. T'other alternative is build a goal post going right above the scanner. either way, you need a s/steel fabricator to make it. Or buy another scanstrut as RD points out. The open scanner is way better than the enclosed radar , btw.

Here are some ideas. First 3 pics are my old sq 58

Thanks JFM.

I think the scan strut is the simplistic solution and looks good too.

I didn't know that about the scanner but makes sense as it is at least 100% longer.

Check out the Belgian registered brokerage p50 on boats.co.uk website. Has dome off at the side. could fit two, one dummy, for aesthetics. Dummy probably cheaper than the big scanstut bracket (although, from these pics you can see they have used a small scanstrut mount, so you might need to buy 2 of those if using a dummy) and you can hide r/reflector and other things inside the dummy (which is what my boat has - loads of clobber inside the dummy)
