We’ve recently installed a second hand S2 with 6002 control unit and type 1 drive unit.

all carefully sited with correct cable sizes etc.

We ran all the raymarine commissioning steps and all looked well with a 3 degree deviation on the compass.

The pilot steers fine initially, but seems to let the boat ‘float’ up to 30 degrees off and then struggles to correct it enough back to straight. Happens under sail and power. We have tried different combinations of rudder gain etc but no change.

Any ideas?

Has it got a rudder sensor, is it working properly?
Has it got a seperating compass sensor, is there anything near it that can interfere?

Been through all these and nothing obvious. The manual doesn’t offer up a solution unfortunately. I’ll probably give Raymarine a call.
