Hi does anyone know if the Raymarine RC435 plotter permanently transmits gps coordinates over nmea 0183?

Last night I used the yellow cable on the rc435 which I beleive is nmea output + to the blue cable on the NASA Ais radar but it just kept saying no gps signal on the AIS.

But the RC435 had a good gps fix.

Is there anything I'm missing or need to know about the Nasa ais as the instructions are rubbish.

I have done this with the same equipment so it does work, unfortunately I have sold the NASA and kept no records.

However I have had a quick look at the manuals and the versions I have seen suggest that: If the GPS has a NEMA - (neg) output.....connect to the vessel supply negative - NASA Ais Radar manual

The RC435 does seem to have such an output which is indicated as being Brown.

Double check this yourself before plunging in...... but if I can crack it anyone can.

Thanks Doug, that's exactly what it's going to be, I looked again at manual after posting this morning and picked up on that, of course that's what I haven't connected, I'll have another go tonight.

On subject of RC435, you didn't by chance ever connect a st1000 tiller pilot to it? I'm guessing it will but not got that far yet.

I still have the plotter as a backup but never attached it to an autopilot of any sort. Always rated the NASA unit though and only moved it on in order to transmit AIS B.

Do you have the nmea colour list for the RC435? I've tried connecting brown to negative but still no gps data getting through to the ais?
