Having recently updated my elderly Samsung phone to a more modern S10 (partly as many apps no longer worked on the old 32-bit Android), it appears that neither of the Raymarine Apps for connecting to their plotters works properly, if at all, with modern versions of Android.

Staggeringly in these days of fast moving electronics, and increasing use of mobile devices, these don’t seem to have been updated since 2017!
The majority of ratings on PlayStore are just 1 star, which is shocking for what should be a reputable vendor.
Loss of mobile device access would be a major failure of functionality.

Anybody else got this issue? Any solutions?

Not a solution, but maybe a workaround - is there a better version available for an iPad? The cheapest iPad seems to be about £300, but you can have a second Axiom+ 7 display for £580, so not a great workaround.

I am hoping to have an Axiom+ main display connected to an Android app on a new boat, but came across the same problem as you have found reported, so I'm expecting to have to fork out the extra for a 2nd smaller Axiom+ display (or maybe go B&G, but then it's iPad only, no Android support).

The Apps that worked with my old Raymarine display did not work with the AXIOM 9 that replaced it,. I uninstalled those Apps and installed them again and woohooo all worked OK, albeit they both appear to be the same as the display shows on the 'control' app and the control panel appears as an optional if clicked side bar on the viewer app. In my case that is using either of 2 Android notebooks or a samsung J7 phone

Yes I have an iPad also. Shockingly the iPad Apps have also not been updated for 3 years, and 2 out of 3 Apple Apps have average ratings of the absolute minimum 1 star, Ray Control the best at 3.0. Fortunately RayView seems to still work on the latest version of IOS, but having not been updated I would not bet on them remaining working for long.

I also like to have the option of using on the phone. Having this by me in my bunk saved one dangerous situation where a cluster of 15+ fishing boat AIS traces was hiding a single big ship on collision course in the dark - not at all easy for the watch keeper to spot on the cockpit plotter.

I have previously commended use of Raymarine due to their mobile connections. This abdication of any product for mobile connectivity would be a deal breaker for me if considering any new kit. Perhaps better moving to another supplier.

PS. Did you raise with Raymarine? I plan to do so but thought I would sound out other experience first.

Not yet. I'm not taking delivery until Spring 2022, and the choice of electronics is one of the final decisions to be made. I'm hoping B&G may have updated their Vulcan range by then as Raymarine have just updated their Axiom plotters to Axiom+ (better resolution, brighter display, more memory).
