The insulation on the multicore handset curly cable on my Raymarine Ray215e VHF Radio has now deteriorated to the point where it will have to be replaced.

This radio is now obsolete as far as Raymarine are concerned but as it is working perfectly it seems wrong to scrap it and buy another set.

Does anyone here know where I can get another handset cable?

Not sure if I'd want to solder to my bits.

If there's only a small bare patch, a bit of self-almalgamating tape to protect the wires until you can fix. Insulating tape will just go sticky and slip.

The outcome of this was that I sent the handset c./w cable to Raymarine, Fareham and a new curly cable has been fitted for the very reasonable sum of £45 plus carriage and VAT.

The repair was carried out within 10 days.

hi i have the same problem of the broken cord and also the 8 pin connector.
Does anyone have the connection diagram of the 8 pin connector?
thank you

I am not sure about the 215e, but I was able to buy the cable for the 240e (complete with connector) for about £20 each late last year even though the radio is obsolete. Have you asked Raymarine if they still have cables? I found their customer service very helpful.

Alan.
