In the fog yesterday, went to use the radar for the first time this season. It would not. (Part of Raymarine C90 wide set-up)

Pressing the 'power' button (the usual system) brought up the 'scanner on/off' soft key but it started in the "off" position. It would not toggle to 'scanner ON'.

In previous uses, the scanner defaulted, on start up, to 'scanner on'. Something has changed.

Any clues?

Not much help to you I know but when my son who was many years in the Navy working on Radar came to visit he helped me set mine up so it is now spot on...he asked how often I fired it up...."when I needed it" I replied...he stated that Radars should not be left sitting idle and he prescribed a schedule of firing it up at least once a month...I have been doing this ever since and its still working beautifully....This bit of info may be of use to someone.. and please don't say he doesn't know what he's talking about..like I said he's worked on them for years, and in fact still does travelling to many different countries fixing them..

Quite agree - we run the radar at least briefly almost every time we move the boat. Apart from ensuring that it is regularly exercised, I like to give myself a little reminder of how it works - there's nothing like looking at the radar screen in broad daylight to reinforce the lessons of how to interpret the image.

Voltage ?????

Voltage ?????

That, or a bad connection, would seem to be a good starting point. The OP does not give details of the installation, but most radar scanners are exposed to the elements at the end of long cables - plenty of scope for water ingress resulting in low voltage - or a complete lack of volts!

My Simrad digital radar did not fire-up during the first trip of the season from yard to marina. I had to summon my complete knowledge of electrickery to solve the problem. I powered the lot down and then back up again. It worked second time. Always worth a try.
