1. If I will have 2 x Raymarine L1250CRC displays in a hsb2 network, can I view my Raymarine radar at different settings on both screens concurrently?
2. If I will have Raymarine M1500 monitor display, can it 'second' as a TV in the marina?
3. If I will have L1250CRC fishfinder, should I replace my Apelco transducer (feeding Raymarine ST6000+ instruments) with Raymarine bronze tru-hull 600w B744V, or with long-shafted B744VL, or with 1000W B260, or might Raymarine transducer be additional to the Apelco - would they interfere with each other?

Sorry for so many questions - but Raymarine info not clear on such points.

1. Not AFAIK, cos setting the range on the radar display also changes the pulse duration and stuff on the scanner. What's an L1250CRC, BTW?

2 & 3. No idea, sorry.

1. Wiggo might be right, but I thought you could do this. I can try it this saturday and let you know, if you want.

2. I thought it didn't have a TV tuner in it. But you should be able to plug in the output from another TV into its video-in, and watch TV on it that way

3. You need the special transducer for the 1250, you can't use the basic transducer that comes with the ST6000. I dont know about interference with 2 transducers but AFAIK people generally just replace the ST6000 tranny with the 1250's tranny. So rahter than risk it (and drill another hole in your boat) that's what I'd do

Have you actually bought the 1250 or are you just thinking about it? I ask because I can direct you to a shop selling an ex demo L1260D, 2004 model hsb2, for loads less than list price. 1260 is the current model, replaces 1250

Think the answer to Q1 is no. As far as I know, you can control the radar from any hsb2 display, but all displays will then show the same radar image.

Hmm. You may be correct, I'll try at the weekend. But you can for example show a chart window on several screens, in a different scale on each screen.

Sorry Wiggo, reference should be L1250RC. I have 2 of them from USA - they are full function 10 inch chart plotters like the RL80CRC + fish finder - at least that is the understanding I have. I would like to mount them side-by side and use them as radar screens with different settings.

2. I have a 'portable' TV tuner, but dont know if picture will be TV quality with the Raymarine unit.

3. OK, seems right.

Already bought - bad news for me that current model may be available cheaper - pls give the connection in any case.

Showing a chart at different scales is just software commands, showing a radar image at different scales from one scanner is physically impossible as the transmitter/receiver timings can only be on one setting at any one time.

If you are using LR1250RC then these have a sonar card. You need to install a DSM250 sonar black box into the network, to get sonar functionality.

I bought an ex-demo unused LR1260 without a DSM 250 (the shop had lost it), intending to plug into my existing HSB2 network consisting of RL80CRC and RL80C. I just wanted another 10inch screen.

It worked fine, except becuase i had no DSM 250 there was a permanent red box in the corner of the screen saying "sonar not connected" or something. A bit irritating. I didn't want to install a DSM250 so i took it back to the shop and got a proper RL80C. The 1260 is still available I believe, £1700 or makem an offer www.cactusnav.com. In mayfair, London

Thanks JFM - you have exactly the set-up to check my question. Hope the reply will be pos. as I've already bought (+DS250+smart heading sensor). My current system is laptop with SeaPro for nav. and Raymarine for radar, GPS, autopilot, ST60 instruments, both systems interconnected. I inherited C-Map charts with the boat and I have been viewing radar on a RL70C - am really looking forward (pardoon!!!) to the 10 inch L1250CR display with MARPA. The fishfinder thingy is just a bonus - I wanted RL80CRC but for some reason L1250CR units are $ 1000 to $ 1500 cheaper than RL80CRC. I paid $ 2000 for one L1250CR from US and € 2000 f'other from Germany, new, boxed. Do you know difference between L1250 and L1260? Imagine if I can move from 7 inch screen to 2 x 10 inch with MARPA, and radar at different settings on each! I completely agree with you about more, bigger, screens in a network. Anyway, we'll see about my question after Saterday. I have 33 ft motorsailor with pilothouse and inside nav. and with repeaters in outside cockpit. Not enough 'real estate' for all the screens I'd like - what are you sailing?

Yes having the big screens and plenty of them works well. You can only have 2 windows open per screen, so if you have 2x10inch screens at the helm (which is what I do) you can have 2-4 windows open. This avoids the hassle of changing screens so often

My set up is on a mobo, Squadron 58. 2x 10inch RL80 screens at upper helm, 1x 10inch screen RL80CRC lower helm (which is never used, we are in the Med)

You are correct that 1250/1260 is the cheapest 10inch screen. 1260 is the 2004 model, 1250 was previous, not sure what the difference is, but it's not significant

Yuo need to set up "cursor out" in the menu, then as you move the cursor on one screen (eg the radar) is shows up on the other screen (eg plotter)

I will try the radar range experiment this weekend, and let you know

I'm confused about your proposed set-up. You've bought 2 L1250RC displays, which are cheap now because they are technically discontinued (the current L1260RC has HDFI fishfinder imaging and a better sunlight-viewable screen). But the L1250RC has no radar capability unless it's connected to a working radar display, so you're still going to have to keep your existing RL70C radar display. If your radar is a "Plus" version, it will already have MARPA; if it isn't, your new L1250RC displays won't have MARPA. And as the L1250RC displays will only be working as repeaters, they will both show identical radar images - you can't have different settings on each.

What's also confusing is why the Raymarine fishfinder with RayChart built in should be cheaper than a plain RayChart chartplotter with the same screen. Raymarine are usually pretty smart with their pricing; this doesn't make sense.

I'm keeping the RL70C 9 in the circuit. I dont think its 'plus', but new L1250CR is 'plus'. Disquited by your comments - I want MARPA and was hoping also to get an extra 10 inch display for different radar setting - but must include MARPA. Are you perhaps advising maybe dispose one L1250Rc and replace with RL80CRC for MARPA?

You need to check the specification status of the RL70C to find out whether it was built as a Plus version or whether it's been upgraded subsequently. Have you tried to use MARPA on it? If it doesn't work, it won't work with the new displays either.

The RL70C was new in 2001. On the face is printed RL70C, but it has C-Map slots like the RL70CRC and it is a real chartplotter. Software is version V2.06.

I understand from the Raymarine owners manual that MARPA is only available on the 10 inch chartplotters.

I am still waiting for a definitive answer whether 2 Raymarine displays might be able to show radar at different settings. I think the answer will be NO.

I might change one L1250 for a RL80CRC, or ask Raymarine to upgrade the RL70C. In either case. I should keep the second L1250.

Yup, there is only one radar scale possible

Rusland, I tried it at the weekend. I turned on all three netwroked screens, to radar. As other posters said, the scale setting remains common to all screens. If I went to any screen and changed the scale, the other 2 screens automatically changed themselves in unison

Re badging, yes that is what Raymarine do. We have a RL80CRC and RL80C, but both are badged RL80C. They dont make a CRC badge. Only way to tell em apart is that the CRC has the little door for the chart chip
