The 9" version. Its about 8 years old and this year the touch screen has started to not responding to being touched. It also has started to put cursor marks on the screen. The rotary control still seems to work OK and removes the cursor and allows control. Turning off and back on seems to sort the problem out for a while but it then comes back.

At the time of purchase the dealer also sold Garmin and B&G but felt that raymarine was the best suited for me.
The whole unit looks in good condition as when in use it is inside a wheelhouse and when not in use in padded computer bag down below and out of season kept at home.

I don't think that I have ever updated the software and it has never been connected to the Internet. The last bit of new kit attached to the network was an evo autopilot about 2 years ago.

Someone suggested updating the software, but when I read and try to understand the instructions I get really confused. As it is networked, I suspect any update will affect the AIS, autohelm, i50 and i60 (speed, wind and depth) instruments, the i70s multi display and finally the ITC-5.

Any suggestions apart from binning and changing everything to garmin !

This is a common fault.

My a98 touch screen packed up, but as it was just a few weeks less than 3 years old, Raymarine replaced it foc.

There's not much you can do I'm afraid.

I kept my a98 as a spare, as I now have an es12. It's only been used once for a week since it was replaced and I would be prepared to sell it to you if it gets you out of a hole. It is a direct plug,and-play swap for the es98. Same connections and software.

PM me if you're interested.

It's a common fault on them without a fix as the touchscreen is no longer available. Happened on mine. First the touchscreen went a bit scatty with phantom touches all over the place before stopping working completely. The only workaround is to disable the touch screen & do everything with the buttons & rotary control. That's what I do with mine & it works fine for me. You soon learn how to do stuff & now I don't miss the touchscreen.

Thanks for that. I'm already starting to use the buttons but had got really used to the touchscreen over the years.

The touch screen has really given up and I 'lock it'. Using the rotary knob to zoom in and out, the charting jumps all over the place from where the boat is to a location nearly 10 miles away. Speaking to a dealer I might get a trade in offer from raymarine but in the past these have never seen much

I haven't tried the screen recalibration yet, but feel that this wont do anything as when the touch screen worked it was fine and 'moved' as expected.

Been considering @Bobc offer but I really want to keep the option of 'button' control as when it gets rough my cat has quite a jerky movement that makes the touch screen awkward to use.

It zooms in and out centred on the cursor, not the boat. You move the cursor to where you want to zoom first. As an eS plotter with a dead touch screen is still usable I expect that you can sell it for more than Raymarine trade in.

Another play with it coming up next week. Does make sense zooming in on the cursor now mentioned.

Same fault with mine. Phantom touches and the like. Have had the touch screen locked out for a season and have got used to not using buttons. One thing we cannot work out how to do via buttons..... is to bring up the second row of data bar info at the top. We used to do this by tapping on the main data bar strip to bring up the other one. Cannot see how to do that through the buttons and menus... Any ideas?

Not yet. Early days for me without the touch screen.

I did use the second row of data as it brought up the SOG. Might have to alter the display of the i60? Speed display to compensate to show boat speed and SOG.

Hi, mine has literally just started to do the same thing, phantom touches and chart wonders off to somewhere else then won't respond. Will try and see how I get on with the buttons.

Has anyone had a repair completed?

Can't be done. Just lock the screen and use the buttons.
