Raymarine Hybrid Touch Plotter 2014 model

Has anyone got a Raymarine Hybrid touch chart plotter 2014 model and has fitted ais to it? If so what module, was it easy to fit. I’m looking for the least expensive option to fit AIS to appear on the Raymarine screen. I’m talking about a rx & tx version and what aerial did you use or did share the vhf aerial?

I fitted and connected the raymarine 700 ? AIS that has a built in splitter and it's own GPS aerial to my eS9 plotter using the seatalk ng network. Once the AIS is programmed (you need to do this for it to transmit) it was plug and play so to speak.
I believe that an emtrak model is very similar and that Raymarine use it and rebadge.

All Emtrak B9xx models are compatible, as are pretty much every other AIS.

The Emtrak B923 is the least expensive model with a built in splitter. The B953 is the more powerful SOTDMA version, which costs a little more.

The B953 has the same internals as the AIS700 if you want like-for-like.

When I go on the EM-TRAC website it recommends the B923 for what I wanted. However, I will also look at the B953. This is a 2025 project.

When on my Hybrid plotter the installed splitter stopped working the quickest simplest and cheapest solution was to install a separate antenna for the AIS unit.
Any ordinary Marine VHF will do the job.

That is interesting as I was considering installing a separate external GPS antenna. If I install a separate AIS/VHF aerial I might consider a cheaper AIS without the inbuilt splitter. I guess for ease of installation NMEA 2000 would be better for interfacing a Raymarine Hybrid plotter than NMEA 0183.

The cheapest Emtrak without the splitter is the B923. All of the B9xx series have NMEA 200 and 0183. If you have a N2K network it's simple to add a tee and a drop cable, if not, it's simple enough to connect the 2 x 0183 wires that are needed and this option costs nothing.

Totally agree and I like the EM_TRAC series of AIS Transponders. tee & drop NMEA 2000 I think is the best.
