I have just refitted the a series mfd/pltter/rdar/ais display having removed it for the winter. it came on with chart display initially but no touch screen buttons work. turned off and on and it comes on with the accept all disclaimers page but will go no farther I found the online manual, but see no solution. the manual is in the device, choccy teapot style since i cannot access it
I suspect I screwed up somehow, but what/how know not. This is our flybridge plotter, downstairs is a wifi streaming android notebook repeateer which cannot locate a raymarine device so nothing on air I guess cos it is stuffed.

any ideas please?

You could try a factory reset, i can't tell you how without knowing exact model. Note there is a difference between A series and a series, the case makes a difference.

Reset instructions for the "a" series are ;

  1. Turn the unit off
  2. Turn the unit back on
  3. When the Splash Screen appears press and hold the Power key
  4. After the Splash screen you should see a Dark screen
  5. Press the Power Button until you highlight 'Reset FLOB' and a countdown will appear
  6. Wait until the Countdown finishes and the unit will reset and it will reboot

Hope that helps.

Many thanks Paul, not sure if I have seen a 'splash' screen IIRC it said lighthouse or similar I will try in morning. I did find the reset bit once but not sure how, I pressed the power button thinking it would scroll to 2nd option 'exit and carry on' or similar but it did nowt.

Thanks for advice, I'm a 74 year rold numpty and loathe touchscreens as much as they seem to hate me.:disgust:

Well many thanks to Paul, display is now working but have lost all wpts/routes/tracks (good thing too, they were all previous owners and so many as to be seriously confusing)

Of slightly more concern is currently not displaying AIS data, screen says 'no AIS' despite having turned all AIS functions in the menus that I can see.
Also not displaying depth etc from Seatalk ST50s. I tried switching connection plug between ports on the display, no difference.

Glad to hear the plotter is working, i probably should have mentioned that you'd lose the user data, but as you couldn't turn the plotter on there was no way to save it anyway. Useful to keep a copy of your user data if you save anything.

Which AIS do you have ? Do the ST50s work at all ?

AIS is a Vesper watchmate with own display at lower helm ST50 Tridata only plus 2nd FB repeater autopilot not on network sadly but inherited thus. I have now got AIS overlay working on the FB display, there were 2 options on the NMEA settings in the menus, 4800 and AIS, reset had both MFD ports set to 4800, changed to AIS on one and bingo!

secondary problem of depth alarms and crazy readings cured when visitor boat in next berth left, interference I guess.

What is not working now is streaming by wifi to android notebook. Wifi is enabled on MFD, sec code is set to 'none', it connects but says 'check connection, cannot stream' It used to display everything from up top including radar. I suspect it is yet another setting in a sub menu of a sub menu of a sub menu, maybe tomorrow will find it. Not too bothered as only drive up top but I hate to be beaten.

Thanks again for your help much appreciated!.

Finally got it to stream the display to my android notebook via it's inbuilt wifi, having uninstalled and reinstalled the raymarine android app. The app for remote control will still not work to change any settings,(although it displays whatever is on the MFD so possibly needs newer software than currently installed. I may reinstall the control app on my phone and see if that works, otherwise we have a workable setup. We also have OpenCPN on our lappies down below so could leave the FB display on radar repeated at the notebook and use OpenCPN for the plotter. neither the notebook nor the lappies are readable in bright sunlight but are ok below Normal operation is up top but the option of moving below in heavy rain or freezing cold is nice, fog would have us up top in the open eyes scanning and ears flapping regardless.;)
.

ANOTHER UPDATE.

24hrs later all froze again, powered off t breaker as suggested by Raymarine, rebooted 24hrs later again and this time bingo, phoenix rises again and even is controllable from RM 'control' app on android notebook as well as viewable-first rate for our needs. Guy at Raymarine also said 'find and turn off sonar logging'. It was already set to off so I turned it on the back off which may or may not have helped but hey it looks like I can avoid another bunch of vanishing beer tokens for a while at least.

Time was when faults involved loose wires, blown fuses, even valves, now it is all software sortable.with help from those in the know.
