raymarine GPS antenna

I have to replace the GPS antenna. I have a new one with its cable, but threading the cable through the convoluted path of the old cable seems like lots of hard work. Can the head unit be disassembled so that I can use the old cable, which I believe is OK?

I would be inclined to use all new, can you use the original cable to pull the new one through?

It can be - it depends how confident and expert you are at soldering in a fine electronics sort of way. I took my Raymarine GPS antenna to bits and ran the cable through a gland before soldering it back together - but once upon a time I worked in a radar research lab and soldered electronically for a living.
