Any one out there using one of these chart plotters. what want to know is what charts you are using with them and why

I know C-MAP well but have no idea about Raymarines Lighthouse system Any one using it? whats is it like?

useful comments please

They run navionics charts - pretty well respected.

Lighthouse is the name of the Operating system the latest generation of Raymarine MFDs run on.

As thread drift, given that Garmin have just bought Navionics, if they were being difficult they could stop the supply to Raymarine thereby handicapping their biggest competitor,...just a thought.

If it's any help and not useless you can order a manual from Raymarine which provides hours of reading or sign up for a course run by a very informative tutor over 2 days or just one day for chartplotter and one for radar. As a new user of raymarine I attended the radar one and found it very helpful learning features if you are close to ray marine uk offices in south. Pairing to iPad assists in learning. I always assumed it only used Navionics and only Garmin spoke C map. There is also a disk from Navionics for passage planning in case of use.

Its all a matter of personal choice, i have used c-map and navionics, dont mind either. At present using navionics on raymarine and tablet, some good features, auto-routing, dock to dock a good starting point for route planning but you must check route and amend before using. Lighthouse like most others menu driven ok when you have got used to it. Lighthouse 11 vs 17.2 I think is the best to use, dont be temped to upgrade to Lighthouse 111 just yet, some functionality needs amending before I would upgrade. Manual is on the unit, and can be downloaded from Raymarine web site.

I have ES127 displays and Navionics charts and am totally satisfied. I pay the £90 a year for the unlimited Chart updates.

I have been using the Raymarine combined plotter and radar displays for over a year on my boat and am very happy with both the hardware and software. Navionics charts on the system, which I like very much also. Very impressed all round and with use and reference to the downloaded manual on my iPad soon became familiar with the units capabilities. Both true - but Lighthouse is now also the name used for Raymarine's own brand of charts - see http://www.raymarine.co.uk/view/?id=11482 . They're actually obtained from various sources as shown on that page, and when I looked about a year ago the ones for the UK south coast were not particularly good. I chose to stick with Navionics.
