Beware, if you sail at night this plotter has no keypad backlighting. First plotter I have ever had with no back lighting. Must have been designed by an accountant.

I'm probably just be being a bit thick here but if it has no backlighting, how do you see it in the daytime?

He means the keys. Yes, I found that too - disappointing as I really like it otherwise. But the keys layout is quite simple, so I found it's not too difficult to use by feel once you're familiar with it.

Disappointing is putting it nicely. I have ripped mine out and sent it back.

I think it’s meant for fast, open angling boats that don’t go out at night.

Are you sure? On my C120 Raymarine plotter the key backlighting only comes on as I dim the brightness of the display to nighttime level.

Yes, that is how you turned on the lighting on my last plotter but not on this one. In the end I contacted Raymarine who have advised me that there is no backlighting on this keyboard.
