Had an element 7, adequate for my 26ft sailing lift keel "weekender". Combi fishfinder sonar also useful supplement to other depth sounder. Screen died.
Replaced with a ruggedised samsung tablet plotter from London chart plotter, with Admiralty charts. Very good, but touch screen is problematic in a small wet boat, never mind in an open cockpit in heavy rain. Unit is upto it, but wet viewing and operation is very problematic for me.
Supplemented by a new element 9 (biggest that will fit the available hole-space). This is button driven only (a deliberate choice, see above) with lighthouse sport charts loaded. Excellent deal in the black Friday sales.
Very adequate for my needs, but Admiralty charts much better... imho....
Fishfinder "sonar" very useful; and larger D numbers on the bigger screen data boxes a vast improvement in visibility from the helm.
Networked only to the Garmin GNX wind, to give apparent winds. Easy.
Wifi only for updates or radar, as others have mentioned above.
Would have taken an axiom for the same money (I'm tight, with electronic toys especially, as a result of a wasted youth as an "early adopter")...but only if driven by buttons!
