Hi Roy
personally I would add a separate unit, for ease of installation perhaps consider a ' in hull' transponder set up, I have just fitted a Lowrance HDS 5X with an Airmar P79 transponder glued to the bilge. Its not the newest technology but a decent fishfinder /depth sounder. For a through hull route I have also fitted an Airmar B60 linked into a Navman head set. JG Tech supplied all of them. http://www.jgtech.com/. Yes 2 depth sounders for OCD purposes !!
